Implementation and validation of Accoustic Droplet Ejection (ADE) in combination with an Open Port Probe (OPP) as a fast-tracked and unbiased mass spectrometry (MS) method. The hyphenation ADE-OPP-MS is a promising technique for subsecond sample injection with a minimum of sample preparation. These are requirements for medium- and high-throughput bioanalysis for label-free quantitation of known compounds and also for the characterization and identification of unknown compounds. Still in the prototype stage at a minimum of automation, technical modifications and the identification of suitable assays are the key focus to implement and validate the system for various applications in routine analysis.
