My name is Stefanie Grüner and I am a graduate in pharmaceuticals. I am currently doing an internship in the quality control division at Boehringer Ingelheim. I enjoy the opportunity to learn first-hand about the background of the pharmaceutical business and decide which direction to take in my future professional career.
At school, I was mainly interested in natural sciences – Biology and Chemistry were my favourite subjects. However, the decisive factor was the fact that this field is all about people: how to treat diseases and how drugs affect people. I was fascinated by these questions and this early interest led me first to pharmaceuticals, and then to Boehringer Ingelheim.
My way to Boehringer Ingelheim
I got to know the company during my pharmaceutical studies and I found their products fascinating: what unique inhalation technology! Later, my fellow students told me about the whole range of opportunities to do an internship at Boehringer Ingelheim. At that time, I had no doubt I wanted to be part of the company.
My functional area
I am part of the quality control department. I think that quality control is a very important part of the company. We contribute to the ongoing development of the products. These products are already excellent; however, we strive to get the best out of them.
Optimising the production processes and making innovations to the products is the goal that we aim for in order to achieve the best quality; and quality is a key issue for our customers.
That's why I work for Boehringer Ingelheim
Boehringer Ingelheim is a global corporation. However, I have never felt insignificant here – on the contrary, Boehringer Ingelheim highly values its German location and the atmosphere here is very personal. I feel that I’m doing something important and that my work is useful.
Why Boehringer Ingelheim?
It was always clear to me that I wanted to work in a company that represents the values I hold. Furthermore, I wanted to work in a company that acted according to these values. For me, that means a nice working atmosphere and sustainable long-term decision-making.
From my experience, I like the views and corporate culture at Boehringer Ingelheim, and I am happy to be part of this project.
