I’m the director of pharmacy channel marketing at Boehringer Ingelheim.
How I came to Boehringer Ingelheim
I first started here when I came as a student for one of the nine six-week rotations I had to complete. I had a great experience: I really liked the people, I appreciated the culture of the department, I enjoyed the work. As I left, I remember thinking, ‘This could be a really cool place to work’.
My work at Boehringer Ingelheim
I’m a trained and practising pharmacist working in trade skills and operations, which is about finished goods making their way to the pharmacy. But in my 12 years here I’ve moved around a lot. Almost every 2 years, I end up moving to a completely new area of Boehringer Ingelheim, so I have those butterflies, and that’s something I actively pursue. I want that change and I want something new and different to do. And Boehringer Ingelheim is okay with that; they encourage it.
Why I work for Boehringer Ingelheim
When I came to Boehringer Ingelheim, I was exposed to so many different opportunities, and actually got to take advantage of many of them. Only then did I really understand that there’s so much for pharmacists to do here at the company. Because of the breadth of experience that someone can get, it’s not only valuable to you as an employee, but it’s invaluable to the greater organisation. Because you get it, you understand that we’re one operating unit, and how it all fits together worldwide.
