My area of responsibility is purchasing and contract management, negotiations and sourcing. Relation management is a key element in my job and I’m faced each day with new stakeholders and requirements.
Even though I’m the only member of staff working in purchasing in the Copenhagen office, I have a lot of contact with similar departments in other Boehringer Ingelheim affiliates. We work closely to optimize processes in each country and across countries so we can serve our customers in the best way possible.
How I came to Boehringer Ingelheim
My former employer was a supplier to Boehringer Ingelheim. When in late 2004 the role of Logistic and Purchasing Coordinator at Boehringer Ingelheim was advertised, I applied – and was happy to get the job.
By the end of 2005 it was decided to separate logistic and purchasing, but at that point in time the Purchasing Manager position was not posted internally, so it was filled by an external applicant. After about a year the first Purchasing Manager left and I decided to apply. Even though an external recruitment agency had also been asked to deliver highly competent candidates, I was offered the Purchasing Manager position as a development opportunity.
