Boehringer Ingelheim is a powerhouse of medical innovation. We focus on five major research areas: cardio-metabolic diseases, diseases of the central nervous system (CNS), immunology and inflammation, oncology, and respiratory diseases. Around the world, we have research sites in Ridgefield, USA, in Biberach, Germany, in Vienna, Austria, in Kobe, Japan, and in Milan, Italy. The largest research site, in Biberach, is the centre of competence for CNS diseases, cardio-metabolic diseases and respiratory diseases. Another focus is the development of improved methods for treating chronic pain. The key to success is being able to rely on people with the best scientific and technological knowledge, who can think outside the box, are good communicators and work well with peers inside and outside the company.
